IF it is January, that means the return of the excellent Word of Mouth-curated Certain Three Tour, hitting its fourth annual outing this month.
Previous years have featured O Emperor, Sons of Noel and Adrian, Alessi’s Ark and We Cut Corners - check them out quick! - and last year saw Bourke’s stuffed to the gills to see Katie Kim play one of the gigs of 2012.
This instalment of the tour features an equally diverse and compelling lineup, with lo-fi shoegazer Si Schroeder - we have been a big fan of his for some time - electro-pop duo Nanu Nanu and post-punk Cork four-piece Trumpets of Jericho (pictured above) all playing in the intimate surrounds of the Catherine Street venue.
Schroeder, whose superb debut album Coping Mechanisms remains one of the best Irish releases in recent memory, would be worth the trip out alone, but coupled with two top Irish acts on the up, this should be a winner.
The Certain Three @ Bourke’s Bar, Thursday, Jan 17 at 8pm. Admission free.
