A RUN of top class gigs takes place in Limerick this week, but we are most excited about the return of eclectic Waterford rockers O Emperor, easily among the best Irish bands on the go at the moment.
The harmonic, folk-rock quintet return to the city to launch excellent second album Vitreous in Bourke’s Bar on Thursday night, a Seoda Shows gig in the Catherine Street venue.
O Emperor’s first album Hither, Thither was one of the best releases of 2010 and the follow-up is already among the best of this year - bursting with a frenetic, lo-fi scuzzy rock feel, with synths more to the fore on this record than the last.
Live, these guys have great chops and you won’t be disappointed.
Tickets are just €7 in advance from the bar, but do not hang around - they won’t last long.
Support is from the superb Cat Dowling, who recently played her own gig in the venue. Enjoy!
