The top Irish band, from Waterford, recently followed up their double Choice nominated albums with a new EP, Lizard, a heady affair confirming their status among the very top echelons of the ever burgeoning DIY Irish music scene.

A four-track EP that includes the incendiary Switchblade, the entirely self-recorded affair is as reckless and relaxed as it is bombastic, and a bold step forward for the harmonic, folk-rock quintet.

O Emperor’s first album Hither, Thither was one of the best releases of 2010 and the follow-up album Vitreous was similarly impressive - bursting with a frenetic, lo-fi scuzzy rock feel and tinges of synths.

They have been both signed and dropped by a major label, but clearly show no sign of allowing that to halt their relentless march onwards. These guys are superb live; you won’t be disappointed. Special guest on the night is Myles Manley.
