BELYING her 95 years, a Moyross grandmother is on her way to becoming something of an online sensation after a performance of Danny Boy gained more than 3,500 hits.

Cliona Park lady Dolly Galvin, who celebrated her birthday last week, was filmed singing the classic folk song at the launch of a calendar put together by schoolchildren at Corpus Christi School.

The performance was uploaded to the Moyross Parish Facebook page, and has gained shares right across the web.

Of her new found local fame, Dolly said: “It makes me feel wonderful. I feel amazing about it. I just think it is lovely that all the people are looking for me! Loads of people have been calling me.”

Dora Galvin, who hails from O’Malley Park, is Dolly’s daughter-in-law.

“Dolly is such a talented lady. It is brilliant - absolutely off the scale! I do not have Facebook myself, but my neighbour and my own children have all shown me. It is amazing that someone who is 95 can sing like that,” she said.

But Ms Galvin said the pensioner has always been full of energy. And Facebook users have shared their appreciation of the performance.

“She sure put her heart and Soul into that song. Fair play,” said one contributor on the social network site.

Another added: “Good woman Dolly you’re simply the best!”
