The Irish World Academy at UL celebrates its 20th anniversary with a concert of Irish traditional music, song and dance at University Concert Hall on Thursday April 24.

The Irish World Academy at UL celebrates its 20th anniversary with a concert of Irish traditional music, song and dance at University Concert Hall on Thursday April 24.

Over 100 performers from five continents will come to celebrate the sounds and gestures of our times, with noted artists including Mícheál O Súilleabháin, Niall Keegan, Connor Crimmin, Conal O Kane, Tadgh O Meachair, Micheal Ryan, Linda Ball Hoban, Líadan, Hazelwell and many more.

Students of the BA Irish Music and Dance, BA Voice and Dance, MA Irish Traditional Music Performance and MA Irish Traditional Dance Performance from the Irish World Academy will also perform.

The Academy 20 celebrations throughout 2014 will also include a major convocation, bringing together musicians, singers and dancers from across the world to celebrate and reflect on the past contribution and future direction of the Academy.

There will also be a documentary film by acclaimed director Alan Gilsenan and an artistic commission, featuring three artists responding to the archives and presence of the Academy at UL.
