LIMERICK’S Leanne Moore is hoping the third time is a charm as she prepares for yet another attempt at Eurovision glory.
Leanne, from Corbally, is part of the winning entry to make it through Friday’s Eurosong 2013 on the Late Late Show, which selected Tyrone singer Ryan Dolan as Ireland’s entry for the Eurovision.
A backing singer on Dolan’s self-penned Only Love Survives, Ms Moore will now attend her third straight Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden in May after two previous appearances in 2011 and 2012 with popstars Jedward.
Leanne was invited back to perform on Dolan’s track by choreographer Stuart O’Connor, who devised Jedward’s performance of Waterline at last years’ Eurovision.
The Strabane lad and his backing team battled it out against four other finalists on the Late Late Show but topped the vote which was a combination of 50% public televote and 50% regional jury vote.
Leanne, a You’re A Star winner in 2008, has referred to the result as “madness” and “amazing”.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to get through, I was told to enjoy Dusseldorf as a once in a lifetime opportunity and I was one of very few to experience a second Eurovision and now a third!” said Leanne.
“I’m still pinching myself to be honest, I’ve had some incredible experiences over the past few years and I don’t take that for granted.
“If there is one thing I’ve learnt it’s that you just can’t expect anything. Nobody can predict what will happen but I am looking forward to Sweden - maybe the third time is a charm,” she added.
Leanne believes the song is “very strong” and will do “exceptionally well” at the Eurovision, with Ireland to compete in the first semi-final on Tuesday May 14, with the final on May 18.
“It is modern because it is dancey yet it has that Irish edge, which I think you need, it has to have some flavour of the country it is coming from,” she said.
