A WEEK long course featuring over seventy of Ireland’s finest young wind, brass and percussion players will culminate in a performance in the University Concert Hall later this month.

The musicians have all been selected to participate in the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble, a course allowing those taking part to hone their talents under the guidance of professional conductors and musicians.

Many of the musicians involved have played with orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and the Cork Symphony Orchestra and have travelled worldwide.

The musicians will be led by conductor Ronan O’Reilly, Director of Music of the Artane School of Music/Artane Band.

The concert, taking place on August 22 at 6.30pm in the UCH, will boast a repertoire featuring popular works such as Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and the Star Wars Trilogy.
