THE IRREPRESSIBLE Corrigan brothers have penned another ditty to a Hollywood star - this time singling out Oscar winner Meryl Streep to celebrate her Irish connections.

The song, There’s No One As Irish As Meryl Streep, taking its nod - and lyrics - from their earlier song to US President Barack Obama, will be released in early February and the first copy will be sent directly to the actress.

Guitarist and song writer with the band, Brian Corrigan said: “We are delighted that Meryl’s Irish roots have been established and that the link to her great grandmother Grace Strain has been made known. We look forward to meeting Meryl and performing the song for her.”

The brothers from Castletroy will play three dates in Malaysia at the end of February, including an event hosted by the controversial Cardiff City owner Tan Sri Vincent Tan. The Malaysian billionaire tycoon was recently ranked by Forbes as Malaysia’s ninth richest man.

Mr Tan sponsors an annual concert for his employees in Malaysia and this year the headline act are The Corrigan Brothers.

The brothers met him after writing their song Vincent Van Tan, What a Man!, following Cardiff City’s win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

They will then head back to the States for six dates in New York and Washington to release their new album, Box of Tricks.

Here’s a sample of the lyrics of their new song:

There’s no one as Irish as Meryl Streep

toor a loo toor a loo toor a loo toor a leap

There’s no one as Irish as Meryl Streep

Just Like Jimmy Cagney

And Gene Kelly too, this Hollywood legend has Irish roots

Her great great grandmother came from Donegal, a beautiful county well known to you all

the Strains and Macfaddens and the Laffertys are Irish relations of Meryl Streep

She’s won every award in the movie game and she’s very proud of her Donegal name
