Limerick choir Ancor are preparing to stage their annual Christmas concert in the atmospheric surroundings of St Mary’s Cathedral, where the award winning choir has truly made its home.

This year, Ancor will delight audiences with Christmas music to suit all tastes. As well as festive favourites, the programme this year will feature John Rutter’s Magnificat, which is a powerful seasonal piece, with soloist Sinead Fitzpatrick. John Rutter himself described the opening movement alone as a “fanfare, where the audience will be able to tell immediately that this is going to be a joyful work”.

As usual, the audience will be served traditional mulled wine and mince pies during the interval, just to set the mood for the carols that will follow.

This year’s musical extravaganza takes place on Wednesday, December 18 at 8pm.

Tickets can be purchased from the website, www.ancor.ie or from St Mary’s Cathedral and are priced at €10 and €15.
