BELL X1 multi-instrumentalist and songwriter David Geraghty is back with a new solo project.

Geraghty, recording under the new moniker Join Me In The Pines, released lead single Joy Is A Lion earlier this year, and is now set for a gig in Dolan’s to follow up the release.

The single is the lead offering from upcoming album, due for release on October 10, which Geraghty says he is “putting finishing touches” on and comes on foot of two superb solo albums that the Bell X1 man has released in recent years.

Those were 2007’s Kill Your Darlings - nominated for a Choice and bursting with critical acclaim - and the 2009 offering The Victory Dance, our personal favourite and a beautifully understated album, showcasing his considerable talents.

Both albums were written and recorded between stints in the hectic Bell X1 touring schedule, while the new project was written and recorded while the top Irish band took a break from touring, and Geraghty benefited from a newly built home studio, which tested out Chop Chop, the band’s most recent album.

“Finally there’s a place, other than their flight cases, where all these instruments can reside,” says Dave. “Every musician’s dream is to have their own home studio. However, this dream is of the double-edged sword variety. Being a workaholic, it’s sometimes difficult to switch off knowing that the studio is attached to your living room.”

Geraghty was joined by the backing vocal duo of Clare Finglass and his Mammy on the album.

See him in Dolan’s on Friday, July 25. Information at www.joinmeinthepines.com .
