Tidy town: Newcastle West spring cleaning leaves town sparkling

NEWCASTLE West's Tidy Towns Committee carried out its spring clean in bright sunshine on Sunday.

This is now an annual event and corners of the town which could do with a facelift due to litter and overgrowth are specifically targeted. Groups assembled at the Square at 2pm where plastic bags and gloves and hand held pickers were distributed, courtesy of the County Council.

Chair of the committee, Veronica McCoy, pointed out that the appearance of the town was all the more important this year because of its participation in the Irish Business Against Litter competition.
