Three gardai injured in County Limerick road crash

The Garda Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the circumstances of a road crash in County Limerick which involved a garda jeep and another car.

The collision happened at around 11pm last night at Barrigone, Askeaton near to where a garda and a fireman were killed while attending the scene of an accident five years ago.

Three male gardaí and two men travelling in the other car were brought to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital following last night's crash. Their conditions have been described as "non life threatening".

A section of the N69 where last night's crash occured has been closed to faciliate an examination of the scene.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the office of the Garda Ombudsman at 1890 600 800.
