Third man charged in connection with Limerick murder
Paul Colbert (left) of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, is taken into Limerick District Court this Sunday afternoon.
A THIRD member of the same family has appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of Ger McMahon in Prospect last week.
Paul Colbert, 44, of Linehan Avenue, Prospect is accused of murdering the 43-year-old on January 18, last.
At a special sitting of Limerick Court this afternoon, Garda Paul Crowley said the defendant made no reply when he was formally charged at Roxboro Garda Station last night.
Colbert, who did not speak in court, was granted free legal aid by Judge Eamon O’Brien and solicitor Ted McCarthy was assigned to represent him.
The judge granted an application - made by Insp Derek Smart - to remand Colbert in custody until Tuesday when he will appear before the same court again via video link.
Paul Colbert is an uncle of two brothers who appeared in court on Friday after they were charged in connection with the fatal stabbing.
