The grape escape: Limerick sisters offer French leave
TWO Limerick sisters are offering a chance to escape the waterlogged summer by taking tours of the wine producing country in southern France.
Karen and Suzanne O'Reilly, from Ennis Road, have operated a property business in the Perpignan area since 2000, but have now broadened their horizons into tourism.
Their new venture, The French Tour Co, is offering weekend breaks and tours of the vineyards and wine cellars of the Roussillon region, where Cotes du Roussillon wines, cheeses and chocolates are produced.
Karen said that she believes that the region, one of the largest wine producing areas in Europe, is also one of the continent's best kept secrets.
"The quality and availability of locally produced wines has really improved in the past 15 years.
"On our tours, we bring people to a great blend of vineyards, from large chateaux to smaller, boutique vineyards and local wine co-ops.
"The scenery is amazing, and it's 35 degrees out here at the moment too," she said.
