Stranded Munster supporters are no fans of Ryanair

HUNDREDS of Munster fans, who were in Cardiff at the weekend had to endure further travel chaos yesterday with many not arriving home until late last night – a full 48 hours after Munster's historic victory.

Hundreds of fans who were due to fly with Ryanair from Bristol to Knock on Sunday afternoon did not take off from the English airport until yesterday afternoon – a full day late.

"It is very frustrating and I am still here even though I am supposed to be at work today," said Jimmy Marks from Mount Earl, Adare, shortly before the flight eventually took off yesterday afternoon.

"We had to get a taxi into town and we had to book into a hotel on Sunday night and we had to pay for it ourselves so it is very annoying," he added.

John Liston from Croom was a passenger on the same flight. "It is an absolute disgrace and we were't told anything and we were not even offered a cup of tea or coffee," he said.

A spokesperson for Ryanair was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press but a statement was expected from the company, this Tuesday afternoon.

Separately, Munster fans who were due to return home by ferry on Sunday had to endure delays of up to fifteen hours yesterday.

Ferries from Fishguard and Pembroke to Rosslare were delayed due to bad weather on the Irish Sea and despite departing from Wales yesterday morning there were further difficulties off the Wexford coast resulting in the ferries being diverted to Dublin Port instead of Rosslare.
