School receives digital equipment

SCOIL Mháthair Dé, Abbeyfeale, received digital camera equipment and other technical apparatus as a result of its participation in both of Tesco's voucher programmes, Computers for Schools.

Now, Cmputers for Schools and Sports for Schools and Clubs schemes are being offered together for the first time.

To celebrate the new Tesco for Schools and Clubs Scheme, Miriam O'Shea, personnel manager, Tesco, Abbeyfeale, presented the school, with some free vouchers to kick-start their saving scheme for the new programme.

Marie Gleeson, principal, explained that vouchers were given by Tesco depending on the cost of purchases and the purchaser, who may be the parent of a primary schoolchild, or some other relative or neighbour, then passes the vouchers on to the school. A catalogue of goods is available and these may be redeemed according to the number of vouchers collected.

Many of the 174 girls enrolled in the school are active in the scheme, said Ms Gleeson.
