Rumours of 400 job cuts at Dell's Limerick plant

REPORTS are circulating today that Dell is to cut 400 temporary jobs at its plant in Limerick.

This follows indications that over 100 jobs at Flextronic, also located in Raheen Industrial Estate, are to go.

Today Deputy Jan O'Sullivan expressed concern at the news and called for the government to be proactive in protecting jobs.

"The news that the Dell plant is to let 400 temporary workers go, and the indication that over 100 jobs at Flextronic are at risk, has made this a very bad day on the jobs front for Limerick."

"Today's news is very worrying development, causing serious concern in the Limerick area and my thoughts first and foremost are with those families who now face financial stress and uncertainty."

"Dell and Flextronic have been good employers of long standing in the area and it is of particular concern that so many good quality jobs may now be lost," she said.
