Pensioner robbed outside Limerick funeral home
GARDAI are appealing for information after an elderly woman was threatened and robbed as she attended a removal service in the city centre.
The woman, who is aged in her 80s was approached by a man as she was standing outside a funeral home at Gerald Griffin Street. The incident happened at around 10.30 last Saturday morning.
According to gardai, the man demanded money from the woman before taking a number of items from the pocket of her zimmerframe.
The culprit, who is described as being about 5’ 11”, in height escaped in a silver car possibly a BMW.
According to gardai, the thief did not get any money. “It was an extremely frightening and upsetting incident for the elderly lady,” said a gardai spokesperson who described the offence as “cowardly”.
Gardai at Henry Street station (above) are investigating.
