Open to Question..with Liam O'Brien, actor and singer

ACTOR, singer and director Liam O'Brien is a busy man. He will be performing all the old Rat Pack hits with his band at a new night in Aubars on Thursday September 3 and September 17, and best of all it his free.

The founding member of Bottom Dog Theatre is also directing their production of Language Unbecoming A Lady which is on in the Belltable@36 Cecil Street from September 11 to 14.

And he evens fits in the time to be Limerick's 18th sexiest man!

1. Describe yourself in three words?

Not thirty yet.

2. What's your favourite Limerick pub and restaurant?

Big fan of the new Ardhu Bar on the Ennis Road but Thursday night in Aubars is gonna be the place to be. Life-long fan of La Piccola Italia.

3. Who do you think is the greatest living person from Limerick - and why?

My grandmother who is 96 next month. She's seen two World Wars, the birth of our nation, heard everything from Count John McCormack to Giveamanakick, watched everything from the Riordans to the X-Factor, and has seen pretty much every show I've done on stage or screen. She's been through it all but never lets it get her down. She's an inspiration.

4. Who is your favourite band or singer at present?

Always been a massive REM fan. But of all time it has to be the chairman of the board, Frank Sinatra.

5. Do you prefer to shop in the city or in out-of-town malls?

The city. Tony Connolly's is a favourite – he never lets the side down on sporting Limerick window displays. A real Limerick tradition.

6. What gets on your nerves?

Chewing gum and litter on our lovely streets.

7. What's your favourite internet site?

www.bottomdogtheatre.com

8.. Tell us something you're good at ...

Apparently being slightly sexier than Willie O'Dea - but just slightly.

9. And something you're not so good at ...

Calling a night a night.

10. How much is a pint of milk?

About 80c.

11. What's the biggest issue facing Limerick city today?

Getting recognition and funding for the arts and appreciating its value to city life and to the economy at large.

12. Eastenders, Coronation Street or Fair City?

Think you forgot one, Emmerdale.

13. If you were made Taoiseach tomorrow what's the first thing you

would do?

Have a look in any old brown envelopes in my desk and then use the cash to build a theatre in Arthur's Quay Park facing the river.

14. What's your favourite film of all time?

Back to the Future.

15. Name your three favourite things about Limerick.

Theatre, music, people.
