O'Dea hit by 'Hitler' jibe as row with Noreen Ryan rages on
FIANNA Fail councillor for Castleconnell Noreen Ryan has stepped up her venomous attack on Defence Minister Willie O'Dea – by comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
Cllr Ryan could now be facing expulsion from Fianna Fail following her call for Minister O'Dea to be sacked, after it emerged that he had facilitated representations on behalf of prisoners.
Cllr Ryan further fuelled the row between herself and the Minister this Thursday when responding to his claim that she is "as a person, utterly without credibility".
Referring to Minister O'Dea's comment that "tens of thousands of people didn't vote for her in the general election that did for me, Cllr Ryan said:
"Hitler had huge support but it didn't make him any better as a public representative."
Cllr Ryan this week sent a letter to An Taoiseach Brian Cowen asking him to remove Minister O'Dea from cabinet and the expel him
from Fianna Fail.
Minister O'Dea derided Cllr Ryan's request for his dismissal, describing it as "a grab for cheap publicity to conceal her utter inactivity and lack of performance as a councillor."
However Cllr Ryan said that the Minister's comments only amounted to him "beating his chest".
