Murder accused is further remanded via video link

THE man accused of murdering breadman Daniel Treacy has appeared before Limerick District Court via videolink and has been further remanded in custody.

John Coughlan, 29, from Pineview Gardens, is accused of murdering Mr Treacy at Topaz petrol station on Ennis Road on February 22 last.

Mr Coughlan wore a black jumper during the brief hearing and only spoke to confirm that he could hear proceedings via videolink.

Judge Eamon O'Brien further remanded the 29-year-old in custody to appear before the court again via videolink on March 25.

The murder victim, a 35-year-old father-of-two who lived in Rhebogue, was shot three times in the head by a gunman in the petrol station before 6.30am. Mr Treacy is survived by his partner Amanda and children Danielle and Kieran.
