Missing teen girl found in Limerick

A 13-YEAR-OLD girl reported by police in the North to have been 'abducted' from her home town of Strabane, County Tyrone, on Saturday was due to be reunited with her family at the Mid Western Regional Hospital, Dooradoyle, on Monday morning.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland wants to speak to a County Limerick man in his 20s today as part of the investigation into the disappearance of teenager Bailey O'Loughlin.

Gardai in Newcastle West, acting on information, located the missing girl at an address in Carrigkerry on Sunday afternoon.

"We were made aware of who she was with and we knew he is from the area so we went to his home," Sgt Gerry Enright of Newcastle West Garda Station told the Limerick Leader.

The Limerick man, whom the 13-year-old is believed to have travelled across the border with, was not at the location when gardai arrived at the scene at 1pm and no arrests were made.

She had been reported missing by her family on Saturday morning and the PSNI initially treated the case as an abduction. They alerted their southern counterparts to look out for a silver Vauxhall Astra which was was reported to be stolen in Strabane.

Sgt Enright confirmed that the stolen car has since been located at Shannon but added that Gardai do not believe the driver of the car has fled the country.

It is understood that Bailey was not bundled into a car and knew the man in question. Nor is it believed that internet grooming was involved.

Sgt Enright said the young girl was not hurt as a result of the incident and added that it appears she came to Carrigkerry voluntarily with the Limerick man.

Gardai handed Bailey over to the care of the HSE and she was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where she was cared for overnight by social services.

She is due to be reunited with her family at the hospital this Monday morning.
