Man arrested following Prospect killing
The man who was killed in Prospect this morning has been named locally as Stephen O'Grady.
It is understood that Mr O'Grady received a number of stab wounds during an incident at a house in Lenihan Avenue, Prospect in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai were alerted at around 2am after they received reports of a disturbance at the house.
Just before 7am a man in his 20's was arrested by gardai after he presented himself at Roxboro Garda Station. He is currently being questioned by Gardai.
When they arrived at the scene they found a man in his forties who had sustained serious injuries.
The man died at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle a short time later.
Gardai have confirmed they have launched a murder investigation and that they have requested the assistance of the State Pathologist.
