Limerick jobs taskforce announced

THE members of the Limerick jobs taskforce, formed as a response to the 1,900 job cuts at Dell, have been named by Minister Peter Power this morning.

Denis Brosnan, formerly of the Kerry Group, will serve as Chairman of the body.

Minister Power said he is confident that Mr Brosnan will bring a "can do" attitude to the work of the Board.

Other members of the Board are Brian O'Connell, Chairman of Atlantic Way, John Fitzgerald, Martin Cronin, John Hurlihy, Chief Executive Google Ireland, Vincent Cunnane, Chief Executive Shannon Development, Martin Cronin, Forfs, Anita Higgins, Ken O'Sullivan and Kay McGuiness.

"We will work closely with Denis Brosnan to ensure that the Board will be focussed on results.The Board has a public and private sector mix and includes people with proven track records," said Minister Power.

Minister Power revealed that third level institutes will play a significant role in liasing with the Task Force on many levels to re train, educate, up-skill and keep the socio-economic impact of Dell's decision to a minimum in the Mid West region.

An interim target date of three months has been set for the Board to report.

"I look forward to working with Denis and his colleagues with their important work," Minister Power said.

Vincent Cunnane, CEO of Shannon Development will also serve as Chief

Executive of the Task Force.
