Limerick's Sexiest Man revealed!
CHRONICLE readers enthralled by our search for Limerick's Sexiest Man voted in their droves, the results are in and after an exceptionally close race our winner is rugby hunk David Wallace.
Judging by the response to our competition David has thousands of ardent admirers in Limerick and around the globe, with votes for him coming in from the the UK, the US and even as far away as Australia!
"I'm very flattered, but it's all just a bit of good fun," said the modest winner this Tuesday. "I was away while the competition was running in the Chronicle but people were texting me about it. It's good to finish above Quinny (Alan Quinlan] anyway and I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me!"
No doubt plenty of admirers will have voted him as Limerick's Sexiest Man after seeing the sensational picture of him on a South African beach during the Lions tour.
Some fans said he looked like James Bond emerging from the ocean, but the man himself insisted to the Chronicle: "It wasn't staged! It was actually a recovery swim after a training session"
The top 10
1. David Wallace, rugby player
2. Andy Lee, boxer
3. Liam Dwan, General Manager of Brown Thomas Limerick
4. Emmett O'Brien, barrister
5. Shane O'Neill, solicitor
6. Alan Quinlan, Munster rugby player
7. Tom O'Donnell, judge
8. Paul Hogan, salesman with Frank Hogan Motors
9. Jerry Relihan, of JRs in the City
10. Niall Colgan, hairdresser
All in all, the judges led by fashion queen Celia Holman Lee had a very tough job choosing 50 from the hordes of handsome Limerick men and they were grateful for the assistance of so many Chronicle readers in compiling the final list.
We're sure that lots of sexy Limerick men didn't make the cut this time but we'll do it all again next year, when doubtless there will be plenty of new contenders from the home of Ireland's sexiest men!
