Limerick man charged in Galway drug seizure

A LIMERICK man was one of two men charged in connection with a massive drug seizure in Galway at the weekend.

Gardai and customs officials discovered cannabis resin and herb valued at €1.1 million during a search of a house at Limehill near Loughrea on Friday.

Cormac O'Halloran, 35, of Glasgow Park, and his co-accused Vincent Glynn, 44, Limehill, Loughrea were charged under sections 3 and 16 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Galway District Court was told that Mr O'Halloran was a barman and he has no criminal record.

Judge Mary Fahy refused bail for Mr O'Halloran after gardai expressed fears that he might leave the country, and the men were remanded in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear before the court again on Wednesday.
