Limerick man charged in connection with fatal stabbing is granted bail

One of the three men charged in connection with the murder of Ger McMahon last month has been granted bail.
Ian Flanagan, 22, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect is charged with impeding the garda investigation into the murder of the 43 year old on January 18, last. Mr McMahon, who lived at Raheen Square, died after he was stabbed a number of times at Lenihan Avenue.
Flanagan was initially remanded in custody when he appeared before a special court sitting last Friday.
When he appeared before the court again yesterday, his solicitor John Devane applied for bail,
The defendant was not opposed by gardai and Flanagan is due to appear in court again on February 21, next.
Meanwhile, two relatives of Ian Flanagan who are accused of murdering Ger McMahon were remanded in continuing custody yesterday.
Sean Flanagan, 26, of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect and Paul Colbert, 44, also of Lenihan Avenue appeared before the court yesterday via video link from Limerick Prison.
Judge Eamon O’Brien was told directions have not yet been received from the Director of Public Prosecutions and both men were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Limerick Court again on February 14, next.
A total of seven people, including a 17-year-old girl have been arrested as part of the murder investigation.
