Limerick couple tied up and held at gunpoint in their home

GARDAI in Bruff are investigating an incident in Kilmallock last night during which a couple were tied up and held at gunpoint by a gang following a raid on their business in the town.

A sizeable amount of cash was taken by the raiders.

The gang of four men held the owner of Beechinors Xpress Stop shop and petrol pumps, on the Bruff Road in the town, at gunpoint shortly after 10pm before they got away with what the Gardai have described as a sizeable amount of cash. The shop was closed at the time.

The assailants later followed the businessman to his home approximately three miles away, where they tied him and his wife up and held them at gunpoint.

"The owner managed to free himself and raise the alarm. The Gardai then arrived and began conducting their investigations," said a spokesperson for Bruff Garda Station.

The business, along with a number of other business units in the area, remained sealed off this Monday morning while Gardai continued to conduct their investigation. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bruff Garda Station on 061 382103.
