Liam 'Baby' Kelly is acquitted

LIAM "Baby" Kelly was found not guilty in Limerick District Court this afternoon of unlawful possesion of a sawn-off shotgun with intent to endanger life.

The jury returned a unanimous verdict after deliberating for just under an hour.

During the three day trial, the court heard testimony from Ian Brennan who claimed he had been shot twice at close range by Mr Kelly in the early hours of September 23, 2007, after the pair had had an argument in Dick Devane's pub earlier that night.

There were large cheers when the 'not guilty' verdict was read out in court this afternoon.
