Golf and glamour to the fore in Adare
GOLF fever has hit Limerick! By the time you read this the Irish Open at Adare Manor will be in full swing, and if last year was anything to go by, it looks set to be a huge success.
And to get things rolling, TV3’s award-winning Ireland AM broadcasted their three-hour show from the Manor last week. Some of you may have seen the show last Thursday morning, featuring Limerick hurler Richie Bennis as well as our singing sensation Leanne Moore, who were both in great form. I had never had the pleasure of meeting Richie before, he is a wonderful warm character, which I think really comes across even on television. He did so well with our hurlers last year and I hope that they can go one step further this year and take home the Liam McCarthy cup!
We had a wonderful morning, I even got a chance to try some archery on the grounds of the Manor although for some reason I couldnt seem to hit the target, instead I narrowly missed Alan Hughes, who kindly forgave me afterwards!
We showed off some of our fabulous style from Limerick, with gorgeous gowns from Kay Boutique and Isobel in Adare. The team at Ivory Hair Salon looked after the hair, with the lovely Mandy O’Loughlin doing make-up and shoes provided by King’s Shoes. The style went down a treat with Ireland AM viewers I’m told!
It is such a great feat for Tom and Judy Kane to have the Irish Open in Adare until 2009. It will be a spectacular three days and I am really looking forward to heading out to the Manor this week. Another reason to be proud of being from Limerick!
*I was invited to Kildare during the week for a fashion show organised by the eternally glam Jackie Lavin. The show was in aid of St Mary’s School in Naas, and I must say the style was superb there, both on and off the catwalk! The glitterati were really out in force on the night, I first bumped into wife of Charlie McCreevy, Noeleen, who was looking radiant. Also looking fab was Clodagh Kean, who had her daughter Kirsten who at just 12 years of age is growing into a fine young woman. Jackie’s partner Bill Cullen took a table at the event and was in great form.
It was a fabulous evening and I believe thousands were raised for the school. Congrats to all involved!
*I took part in a wonderful event in the Castletroy Park Hotel as part of a series of networking meetings for women in business this week. Network Limerick asked me to speak at the event which gives business woman a chance to exchange ideas, make new business contacts and share experiences.
As a businesswoman myself I know well how difficult running your own business can be, so I am thrilled to be involved in these series of meetings throughout the country. As well as sharing my own experiences I learned a lot from other women who spoke about their enterprises.
President of Network Limerick Deirdre Downes told me the organisation provides support, friendship and fun so that women in business need never feel alone. How fabulous!
Nationwide the network has 500 members and the membership is growing constantly in Limerick. It is a wonderful facility for women from all walks of life who are in business. If you wish to join Network Limerick, contact the ladies on www.networklimerick.com
