Gardai probing forest fire in County Limerick after 10 acres of woodland are wiped out

GARDAI in Bruff are investigating a forest fire which has wiped out 10 acres of woodland in County Limerick.

The blaze took hold at Glenanaar Wood, Kilfinane at approximately 2.30pm on Thursday causing an estimated €50,000 worth of damage.

Several units of the fire brigade from Kilmallock, Limerick city and surroundings areas fought the blaze for five hours.

According to a Garda source, Gardai are investigating the possibility that the fire was started deliberately but this has not been confirmed.

No one was injured in the blaze and Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
