Gardai appeal for information following County Limerick collision involving garda vehicle

GARDAI have issued a public appeal for information about a traffic collision in County Limerick at the weekend which involved a Garda jeep and a another car.

The Garda Ombudsman launched an investigation following the incident but a spokesperson for the Garda Press Office says the investigation is now a garda matter.

The collision occurred on the N69 at Barrigone, near Askeaton shortly before 11pm on Saturday last, January 28.

The white coloured Garda Toyota Landcruiser, travelling towards Foynes, was involved in a collision with a red VW Passat which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Three male gardai and two occupants of the Passat were taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital following the collision. They have all been released from hospital.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses, particularly anybody who may have noticed a red VW Passat in the area prior to the collision, to contact them at Askeaton Garda Station on 061 601630.

The car involved was an unwashed white 07 D Toyota Avensis. It had blue lights on the roof that flash when they're turned on. It had red and yellow strips on the rear. It had four wheels, two headlights and three thickos inside. The word 'Garda' was written all over it. Hope that helps you find it.
