Fields Jewellers to create 10 jobs at Limerick's Crescent Shopping Centre

THE local economy got a much-needed boost this week with confirmation that one of the country's most well known jewellery stores is to open in Limerick creating 10 new jobs. Fields jewellers will be based at the Crescent Shopping Centre.

"Even in these very challenging economic times, we are delighted to be breaking the trend and expanding our Irish business, creating 10 jobs in the Limerick community. Plans are well underway and store development is about to begin at The Crescent Centre," said Fields chief executive Noel Coyle.

Fields have 12 other stores in Ireland and 35 in Britain and recently won the UK Jewellery Award for 'Multiple Retailer of the Year' as well as Retail Excellence Ireland awards for national Retail Company of the Year 2010.

Mr Coyle said: "When Fields opened its first store on Grafton Street in 1979, five people were employed. Today, with the announcement of this 48th store in the network, there will be over 650 employees in Ireland and the UK providing expert advice and the famous unrivalled service with the finest collections of diamond rings, exquisite jewellery and watch brands."

"We are very proud of the role which Fields and our employees play in our communities and we look forward to the opening of our new and first Munster Store at the Crescent Centre, bringing an unrivalled shopping experience, product ranges and value.

"We have already received a great welcome to Limerick and we are excited about beginning the recruitment process," said Mr Coyle.
