Fears of plane crash unfounded

FEARS that a light aircraft crashed near Caherconlish this Sunday afternoon proved unfounded.

A concerned passerby contacted the emergency services in the belief that a plane had crash landed in the vicinity of an airfield near Eyon at around 5pm.

Gardai, ambulance personnel and units of the fire service were dispatched to the scene off the Tipperary Road. A search and rescue helicopter patrolled the sky overhead but found no evidence of a plane crash.
