End of the X Factor road for Jedward
LAST night's dramatic X-Factor results show marked the end of the road of the competition for the colourful Jedward twins - whose father is from Limerick.
John and Edward Grimes fans all over the city were disappointed to see three out of the four judges vote to keep Olly Murs in the competition, and to kick out Jedward.
The 18-year-olds, John and Edward, performed a unique rendition of Boyzone's hit No Matter What, but it proved not to be enough to keep the boys, dressed in matching white suits and 'Choose Life' t-shirts, in the competition.
Their mentor Louis Walsh said last night that the twins have been inundated with offers of work.
And this Monday morning, bookie Paddy Power announced they are to refund all bets placed on the twins to win The X-Factor, to the tune of €25,000.
"We really weren't expecting Jedward to go out this week," Paddy Power admitted. "It's debatable whether this year's show will even be worth watching now that the twins are gone and we hope that by refunding money on the lads that it will somehow soften the blow to those who got behind them. We're disappointed to see them go but at the same time we're a little relieved!"
The bookies are already taking bets on the boys' future. There are odds of 12/1 that the duo will be given their own TV show, 2/1 that they top the charts before the end of 2010 and 8/1 that they amass a 10m fortune by 2015.
The boys' dad John hails from the northside of Limerick city and was seen on Saturday night's show welcoming the boys home, along with mum Susannah. The twins grandparents Emily and Jim still live in Limerick city.
