David Gray and Seasick Steve confirmed as support acts for Bob Dylan at Thomond Park

AIKEN Promotions have announced that high-profile acts David Gray and Seasick Steve will join Bob Dylan as special guests at his July 4 concert in Thomond Park.

The Limerick Leader revealed last week that legendary musician Dylan was to come to Limerick to play on the hallowed Thomond Park turf in July and concert promoter Peter Aiken told the Leader that up to four other acts would be on the bill for the gig, meaning a "really good day of good music".

Two of these acts have been revealed as the multi-million selling David Gray, who is immensely popular in Ireland, and American blues-man Steve Wold - better known as 'Seasick Steve'.

The concert promoter explained that Dylan and his management had to be consulted about the special guests set to perform with him.

"It will be acts that people who like Dylan will also like. That is why it has taken a bit of time - we had to agree it with him as well, they have their own ideas about certain acts," explained Aiken.

"Doors will open at 2pm, music will start at 3pm and go on until 10.30pm, so I am confident it will be a full day of really good music," added Peter.

Tickets are expected to sell quickly for the high-profile gig, which will be Dylan's only Irish show this year.

Dylan is universally regarded as one of the greatest and most influential figures in modern music, releasing as many as 34 studio albums over a career that spans five decades and is a Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Award winner.

English singer-songwriter David Gray shot to fame with the release of his album 'White Ladder' in 1998 - largely crediting his Irish following with his early success.

An appearance on Jools Holland's New Year's show in 2006 saw Seasick Steve gain prominence in the UK, culminating in an appearance on the on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2008 and an appearance at several Irish festivals the same year.

The interesting artist is famous for playing a three string guitar, a homemade foot drum known as the 'Mississippi Drum Machine', and a one-stringed 'Diddley-Bow'.

Tickets for the concert go on sale this Monday at 9am, and will cost €81.25, €70.70, and €60.00 for seats, while standing tickets will cost €65.70.
