Cranberries may reunite after Dolores cancels tour

DOLORES O'RIORDAN has cancelled a thirteen date American tour due to take place this September, amid speculation that former band the Cranberries are set to reunite.

The US tour was planned to promote O'Riordan's upcoming second solo album 'No Baggage', but a message on her personal website has indicated that a 'special announcement' is due shortly, increasing speculation that the Limerick band are to reunite after a six year absence.

"The winds of change are blowing strongly, and as a result the 2009 Dolores O'Riordan tour has been cancelled," reads the message.

"At this time, Dolores expresses her very sincere apologies, but has asked us to relay to all of you that with change...what was old, just may become new again. Stay tuned for further special announcements," the message adds.

The Ballybricken native told the Limerick Leader recently that she definitely saw a reunion "on the cards in the future" adding that "it would be a really nice thing to do".

"I think creatively we would have to write some amazing music and go where we haven't gone before and make an album that is totally different to what we have done before," added the singer.

She also revealed that she had recently got together with her former bandmates when she was in Limerick, saying "we all got together with all of our kids and we all had a nice time hanging out".

A photo was also posted on the website, "the first photo showing the former bandmates posing together in seven years", according to the Limerick star's personal website.

O'Riordan and Cranberries' bandmates Mike and Noel Hogan reunited for a one-off performance in Trinity College in January of this year, but attempts behind the scenes to form a reunion came to nothing.

O'Riordan's second solo album No Baggage, is still slated for release on August 27 of this year.
