Charities invited to launch of Limerick Leader Women's Mini Marathon

CHARITIES were the big winners of the Limerick Leader Women's Mini Marathon last year, with an estimated €500,000 raised through sponsorship.

Charities in Limerick and throughout the Mid-West are invited to attend the press launch of this year's Limerick Leader Women's Mini-Marathon on Monday.

The fun run on October 4 is the perfect opportunity to raise much needed funds for deserving causes.

Last year, more than 120 charities were represented at the 7km race which weaved its way around the University of Limerick campus.

Representatives from charities, clubs and schools are invited to attend the press launch at Limerick County Offices, County Hall, Dooradoyle at 6pm on Monday, August 24.

Among the many charities represented at the race last year were the Limerick Cancer Support Unit, Beaumont Hospital, MS Ireland, Console (living with suicide), Share-A-Dream, St Gabriel's Centre, Dooradoyle, the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, ADD, and North Tipperary Hospice Movement.

If you'd like to take part in this fun event log on to: www.runireland.com or www.limerickac.ie and download an application form.

Closing date for entries is Friday September 25.

Meet & Train Sessions with Fitness Expert Edel O Shea are taking place every Monday at 6pm at Limerick Institute of Technology
