Carers receive their certificates

MAIRE Hoctor, Minister for Older People, came to Fitzgerald's Woodland's Hotel in Adare to present Fetac Level 5 care assistant certificates to carers working with Rural Community Care Network.

The purpose of the course is to equip the healthcare assistant with the competencies required for the care of older people.

Rural Community Care Network is a community-based non-profit company that provides a range of community services across County Limerick, Cork and parts of counties Cork and Tipperary.

Deputy Hoctor said that Government policy aimed to support older people to live in safety, comfort and dignity in their own homes for as long as possible.

"As Minister for Older People, I am committed to working in partnership with statutory, voluntary and private agencies, such as Rural Community Care Network, to improve the quality of care for older people and to ensure that the needs of that sector of the population are comprehensively addressed," she said.

Those who received certificates were: Pauline Adams, Fiona O'Brien, Hannah Broderick, Caroline O'Neil, Breda Buckley, Eileen Ryan, Ita Clifford, Claire Stokes, Ester Condon, Susan Woulfe, Mary Corbett, Margaret Doody, Kathy Farrissey, Esther Fitzgibbon, Eileta Greaney, Deborah Harnett, Margaret Harnett, Anne Hayes, Muriel Hayes, Sheila Hayes, Anne Hennessy, Sarah Hennessy, Veronica Hennessy, Theresa Histon, Geraldine Kelly, Mary Meehan, Frances Kenrick, Kathy Lenihan, Maureen Lynch, Margaret McElligott, Catherine McMahon, Margaret Mulcahy, James Mullane, Teresa Mulvihil, Sheila O'Flynn, Ann O'Grady, Joan O'Keeffe, Nora O'Mahony, Mary O'Neill, Nell O'Sullivan, Kathleen Prendergast, Helen Scanlan, Susan Woulfe, Maureen Blackwell, Olivia Hickey, Tanya Higgins, Rachel Hayes, Annette Kelly and Cathy King.
