Candlelight vigil in Limerick for Shane

A candlelight vigil in memory of innocent murder victim Shane Geoghegan will be held in the city on Wednesday December 3 next.

Organised by St Joseph's Parish, the event is "a pastoral response to the circumstances surrounding Shane's tragic and untimely death earlier this month; an outreach of solidarity and support to his grieving family, friends and colleagues; and an expression of the community's hope for an end to the on-going feud of violence and criminality, which continues to render a serious injustice to our beloved city and its people."

Bishops Donal Murray and Trevor Williams, and Rev Tom Kingston representing the United Methodist & Presbyterian Church, together with the Mayor of the city and other public representatives will attend the event.

Music for the occasion will be led by St Joseph's Church Choir and Folk Group, with choirs from neighbouring churches.

The vigil takes place in at St Joseph's Church, O'Connell Avenue on Wednesday 3rd December, at 8pm. All are welcome.
