Brothers charged in connection with Limerick murder

TWO brothers from the Prospect of Limerick city have appeared before Limerick District Court in connection with the murder of 43-year-old Ger McMahon last week.
Detective Garda Michael Murphy, Roxboro garda station, gave evidence of charging Sean Flanagan, 26, of Lenihan Avenue with the murder of Mr McMahon on January 18., last.
Judge Eamonn O’Brien heard that the accused made no reply to the charge after caution.
His brother, Ian Flanagan, 22, also of Linehan Avenue has also been charged in connection with the murder of Mr McMahon. He is accused of impeding the apprehension of a person who committed an arrestable offence.
Detective Garda Deirdre Foley said he made no reply after being charged.
The victim, who lived at Raheen Square, Ballinacurra Weston died from multiple stab wounds after being found lying on steps outside a house at Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, in the early hours of January 18.
He was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.
Four other people including a 17-year-old-girl have been arrested as part of the murder investigation.
