Young boy dies following Limerick road accident

A SIX-year-old boy has died following a road accident in County Limerick this evening.

The fatal accident happened at Farnane, Murroe around 5.15pm.

Garda investigations are continuing into the circumstances of the accident but it is believed the youngster was knocked down when he ran onto the main road.

The boy, who lived in the Murroe area, died at the scene.

The main road was closed for a number of hours as gardai conducted technical examinations.

A post mortem examination will be conducted on the boy's body at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.
