IRISH Water has warned residents in the Kileely area the water is not safe to drink.
Representatives of the State agency have dropped leaflets around to homes in the area advising residents not to drink water due to the possibility of lead in the supply.
It comes following a test at one home in the area.
Householders have been advised as a precautionary measure not to drink the water, or use it for preparing food or diluted drinks.
However, the water can be used for toilet flushing, bathing, showering, laundry and dishwashing.
One temporary drinking water standpipe is being made available, beside the St Munchin’s Community Centre.
The move comes just two weeks after residents in neighbouring Ballynanty were advised they should not use their supply due to a heightened threat of lead.
