Limerick pensioner charged with defiling young girl

A PENSIONER was granted bail after he appeared in court charged with multiple counts of defiling and sexually assaulting a young girl over a two year period

Detective Garda Patrick Hogan said the 69-year-old, who has an address in Limerick city, made no reply when he was charged with a total of 15 offences.

These include six counts of sexual assault, and nine counts of defilement.

It is alleged all of the offences, happened at six locations in Limerick and Clare on dates between June 2009 and December 2011.

The alleged victim was aged 13 when the first of the offences happened.

Judge Eugene O’Kelly granted the defendant bail subject to a number of conditions.

He was ordered to surrender his passport to gardai and he must not have any contact with the alleged injured party.

The case was adjourned until April to facilitate the preparation of the book of evidence in the case.

Judge O’Kelly ordered that nothing be published in the media which will identify the injured party,
