Limerick gardai are appealing for information about an unprovoked attack during which a man was knocked to the ground and kicked by two young men who then robbed him.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Sunday night as the man was walking along Childers Road.

“As he was passing the entrance to Oakview and Ballinacurra Gardens he was approached by two males. One of these males initiated a conversation by asking the injured party for a cigarette. The injured party was then knocked to the ground by these males,” said a garda spokesperson who added that the injured party was kicked a number of times.

The culprits then proceeded to take a quantity of cash, a Huawei mobile phone and a key from the male as he lay on the ground.

The culprits are described as being around 15 or 16 years of age.

“One of them was wearing a navy tracksuit with blue stripes down the arms. The second culprit was wearing a grey coloured jumper,” said a garda spokesperson.

Gardai at Roxboro Road are investigating this attack and are appealing to anyone who was in the area and who might have seen or heard anything unusual or suspicious to contact them at (061) 214340 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800
