Limerick man allegedly raped woman five times

A CORBALLY man was granted bail after he appeared in court charged with multiple counts rape and attempted rape.

The 41 year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was charged by Detective Garda Keith Harmon with five counts of rape, one charge of attempted rape, one aggravated sexual assault and a charge of false imprisonment.

The offences are alleged to have happened at an address in Corbally between November 25 and 26, 2012.

The defendant, who appeared before a vacation sitting of Limerick Court, was granted bail, and is due to appear before the court again on February 19. next.

The accused was ordered to surrender his passport, not apply for any new travel documents, and sign on at Mayorstone garda station three times a week between 7am and 6pm.

He was also ordered not to have any contact with the alleged injured party or any witnesses in the case.
