FIVE people have been released from hospital after consuming what gardaí believe to have been tainted drugs at a house party in Newcastle West.

Gardaí are investigating the case after ambulance personnel and gardaí were called to an apartment in the west Limerick town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services arrived at the apartment in Market Court at around 4am after receiving a phone call that one person in the apartment had started to vomit uncontrollably.

Three women and two men, all aged in their late twenties to early thirties, were treated at University Hospital Limerick.

It is believed they had taken tainted drugs, possibly cocaine.

Garda sources said that the exact composition of the drugs consumed won’t be known until an analysis of samples is completed.

Gardaí at Newcastle West are investigating. Anyone with information can contact the garda incident room on 069-20650.
