TEN-year-old Alan Kirby’s face lit-up when he met Munster and Ireland rugby star Conor Murray on a recent visit to Temple Street hospital.

The Ballyneety lad, described a “huge rugby fan”, met the scrum-half when the star made his second visit to the acute paediatric hospital in as many years.

Conor, who playe d a starring role in Ireland’s dramatic win over France at the weekend, visited Temple Street as part of the hospital’s ‘Kiss Them Better’ campaign.

The Limerickman toured several of the wards in the hospital but had a special connection with Munster fan Alan, from Ballyneety - who was “very excited” to meet him, according to a hospital spokesperson.

As part of the visit, Conor urged families to buy Medicare plasters to support Temple Street, who care for over 145,000 children per year and has one of the busiest emergency departments in Europe. Medicare also have a link-up with Murray’s home club of Garryowen.
