TWO senior officers from the Limerick Garda Division are set to take up new positions in the coming weeks after the Government formally approved their promotions this week.

TWO senior officers from the Limerick Garda Division are set to take up new positions in the coming weeks after the Government formally approved their promotions this week.

Supt John Scanlan, Roxboro Road, has been appointed as chief superintendent of the Laois / Offaly division. Supt Scanlan has spent most of his career in LImerick but has also been based in Ennis and in Grandard, County Longford.

Det Insp Tom O’Connor, who is also attached to Roxboro Garda Station, has been appointed as the new superintendent at Roscommon Garda Station.

Meanwhile, Det Insp Daniel Keane is set to move from Tralee Garda Station to Roxboro Road where he will fill the vacancy created following the promotion of Supt Scanlan.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter has welcomed the promotions.
