A POST mortem will be carried out later today on the body of a man which was recovered from the River Shannon yesterday evening.
The body, which is believed to be that of a local man, was discovered at around 5.30pm near St Michael’s Rowing Club.
It was removed from the water by members of the Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service who were assisted by drivers from Limerick Marine Search and Rescue.
Gardai believe the body may be that of a man in his thirties who has been missing for a number of weeks.
The post mortem will be conducted at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.
